John F. Long, DO, MA is a Board Certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist, also known as a physiatrist. He has an extensive background in Sports Medicine, with a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology. Dr. Long is an Osteopathic physician, fully licensed to practice Medicine; trained to diagnose and treat spinal and musculoskeletal disorders.
Dr. Long provides treatment utilizing a variety of techniques including interventional spinal injections, Osteopathic treatment / manipulation, muscle and joint injections as well as medication management (generally without opioid pain medication). Issues such as sciatica, back and neck pain, degenerative spinal conditions, work related injuries, muscle pain and musculoskeletal disorders are addressed. BOTOX is utilized for spasmodic torticollis, a painful contracture of the neck muscles.
Diagnoses are made utilizing a thorough history and physical examination and diagnostic tools including X-ray, MRI, CT and bone scan. EMG and nerve conduction studies are performed for diagnosis of such conditions as carpal tunnel syndrome, Cervical and lumbar radiculopathy and neuropathy. Assessment of functional abilities and incorporation of information from primary providers, specialists and therapists are a vital aspect of Dr. Long’s practice.
